If the executive cannot get to grips with the subtle routines that govern the reaction of the system to external pressures, it is unlikely that they will come up with comprehensive solutions. Therefore the method of looking at business software systems in a holistic manner is preferable when it comes to lasting business change.

The large organizations cannot afford to waste executive effort in the small details of the business software system but rather would like to have global outlooks that take the company forward. In fact the executives who are seduced by this approach will soon lose their jobs because it will be clear that they are way out of their depths.

The understanding of the business software system can be linked to the organization structure so that work is shared out logically. Thus the supervisors and middle ranking managers can discuss the detail and feedback to the top managers who will be making the strategic decisions in the end.

In the final analysis the organization will have the benefit of the detailed knowledge of the business. This is in addition to the strategic dimensions of the arrangement. Therefore one gets the best of worlds and ensures that they can deliver working solutions to the problems that the company may be facing in the business environment.
